End of week 2

Well, I have managed 150 miles per week for 2 whole weeks. Did a 58 mile ride to Rye and back. All great until darkness fell, the temp dropped to 1C and it started snowing. 57 miles gone and 1 mile left and with the bike covered in black grime I got a rear puncture. It's amazing how it's possible to lean right over the bars and ride a road bike the last mile home with a falt back tyre.
Off to Finland on Monday so got to get lots of miles in at the weekend.

Weekend Ride Options

So, I have been sitting on the spinner bike each evening giving my arse and legs a wee workout and now with the weekend approaching I can plan a ride in daylight. For the LEJOG ride in June I am gonna be riding about 100 miles a day. Our target is to do it in 10 days. I ain't never rode 100 miles in one day before. Sure, I did a lot of mountain biking and you could be out for 4 or 5 hours but the mileage was low. 50 miles mountain biking in a day leaves you walking like John Wayne with piles.
As I write this I am looking at doing a run to Cambridge and back which will be about 80 miles. The final decider will be tomorrow and which way is the wind blowing!

Team Members

The team at the moment are Rob Linney, his brother Si and myself, Dave Procter. The idea to cycle the length of the country came from a late night pub discussion between Rob and I and then gathered momentum. We have agreed a start date of June 5th 2011 so here we go...

Hello!

Welcome to the Pub Cyclist! This page will follow the adventures of three men as they prepare, train and then cycle from Land's End to John o'Groats. Our intention is to stay true to our core values and use pubs for rest stops wherever possible.
