We are the pub cyclists

We rode LeJog in June of this year. 1014 miles in 10 days staying and eating in pubs along the way. We are now starting to plan our next ride following our core values....

Saturday Update

Plan was for around a 60 miler today. Weather was hot and my pace started off correctly but then I spotted 2 cyclists about 0.5 mile ahead of me on a long stretch of road from Wellney to Littleport. I managed to catch them just before the A10 junction at Littleport. The victory was short lived as I started my ride back North up the 10 mile bank road. I started to lose my energy reserves so my legs had no power left. My heart rate started to fall and I was unable to keep it up. I also became unable to take deep breaths of air. I rolled into the Hare Arms pub at Stow Bardolph barely able to ride. Luckily I was meeting Helen and Adam for lunch there so I could get a lift back in the car. At the pub my heart rate monitor was showing low 40's bpm so obviously I had pushed too hard and had 'bonked'. Easy to see i was not fully myself when i asked for water and left half my beer on the table! So, only 50 miles today and likely I will take a rest day tomorrow.
